Internet & electricity
Internet and Electricity on Koh Rong Samloem
Off-grid island stays work best when expectations are clear. Here is how Samloem Laguna handles Wi-Fi and power.
How the resort power system works
Koh Rong Samloem is not connected to a mainland power grid. Samloem Laguna uses a hybrid system with solar generation and generator backup.
Solar-backed electricity
Solar power supports daily operations and reduces generator dependence. The system is designed for practical guest comfort rather than city-style unlimited consumption.
Generator backup
Generator backup covers periods when solar production is lower or demand is higher. Normal electricity uptime is about 99%.
Internet infrastructure
The resort provides approximately 30/30 Mbps internet. It is suitable for normal online work, messaging, cloud tools, streaming, and video calls.
Wi-Fi coverage
Wi-Fi is available in guest areas. If you need a specific working setup, ask the team which areas are currently strongest when you arrive.
Weather-related outage realities
Heavy rain, storms, sea conditions, or upstream provider issues can occasionally affect power, internet, and transport. This is part of realistic island travel.
Realistic expectations
For most guests, the setup is comfortable and reliable. For critical remote work, bring a 4G backup and avoid scheduling important calls immediately after ferry arrival.
